Supercharge your Training Curricula: Partner with Learning Institutions

One of the greatest challenges facing L&D organizations is how you do more with less.  This is specifically the case as the average L&D budget is expected to decrease by 25% in 2012.  While budgets are decreasing the expectation to deliver current, relevant, and impactful curricula is still present.  One way to accomplish this is to partner with the subject matter experts, learning institutions.

Eric Fink, Director, Learning & Development at Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has extensive leadership experience in learning & development and sales with companies such as Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Bayer HealthCare, and GlaxoSmithKline.  The Learning & Development department at JPI recently received two 2011 Communicator Awards for the development of a medical knowledge learning program.  Eric holds a MS degree in Organizational Leadership and a BS degree in Biology.

Topic: Social Media and The Law -- Where They "Connect"

Facebook has over 750 million users. This means that one in every twelve people on Earth is on Facebook. In twenty minutes, one million links are shared. Twitter receives 90 million tweets per day. An estimated 175,000 blogs are created daily. LinkedIn reports over 56 million members, with two million joining each day – roughly one new sign-up per second.

Based on this data, social media has become a major part of our culture and plays a significant role in the way we interact, both in our home-life and in the workplace. In follow-up to previous roundtable discussions: (The Connection Craze: HR and the Social Media Revolution and Linked-Up to Linked-In: Linked-In Basics), this session will consider the topic of social media in the workplace from a different perspective – a view from the emerging law.

Topics and discussion will include:

• An overview of the legal implications
• What employers should be aware of in managing the risks of social media at work
• Tips to ensure that your social media policies are effective

Guest Speaker:  Selma Archer is the Vice President Training and Compliance for Employee Relations Solutions (ERS). She provides consulting and training services to help companies reduce their exposure to employee lawsuits by conducting mandatory training seminars for employees and managers on a range of employee relations issues. ERS’s varied client list includes CBS Paramount, Wendy’s Restaurants and LG Electronics. Selma is an employment attorney and also has an MBA degree. Her experience includes having served as labor counsel for the State of New Jersey during Governor Christine Todd Whitman’s administration as well as having held several executive level roles with Fortune 500 organizations including Warner-Lambert and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
