The Fine Print
- You will be able to design the survey to include questions most critical to your employee population, but in addition I will have specific questions I need to include to appropriately evaluate my research questions. I’m particularly interested in how organizational support (for example, work flexibility – the ability to determine what, when, and how work gets completed) affects organizational commitment (the desire to stay with the company), the ability to balance work & family demands, and perceptions of self-efficacy (the belief that one can successfully perform).
- I’d like to have the data collected by the end of 2009.
- My ultimate goal will be to publish this research in a scholarly journal such as Academy of Management or Journal of Applied Psychology. I do not need to identify your company name, but I would want to describe it (e.g. a 300 employee, medical device company in Northern California . Respondents included leaders, managers, and professionals with an average tenure of xx).
A little bit about me – So can she actually do this?
Aside from studying survey design & evaluation through my graduate program, I created the in-house organizational research capability at Roche Palo Alto. Under my leadership, the L&D group designed, administered and reported on 37 unique surveys per year ranging from employee satisfaction surveys for 500+ to team dynamic evaluations for groups as small as 10. I enjoy writing survey questions, using statistics to evaluate data, and reporting the most critical messages for future action planning – what can I say, I’m a geek!
