Over 7 years ago the Biotech Organization Learning and Development (BOLD) Group began as a group of learning and development professionals in the biotech industry interested in networking and learning industry best practices. We talked about how we saw a lot of waste and dissatisfaction in organizations - ineffective communications, challenges implementing organizational changes, and loss of quality talent to name a few. We knew there was so much more possible - and we realized as Human Resource and Organization Development professionals that not only did we have a role, but a responsibility to make a difference.
Our first four years we organized as an informal volunteer based group for internal HR and Organizational Development (or Learning and Development) professionals in the Life Science Industry. We invited experts in their field to present their work and members to share their lessons learned, convening every other month for lunch.
Within the last three years, BOLD has grown and evolved to further meet the needs of our members. We have added value to the organization by adding programs and resources that will help HR professionals develop themselves by learning more about the life science industry and trends in the OD and Talent Management domain, as well as connect with their colleagues and share best practices.
BOLD remains focused on the needs of our members: internal HR and Organizational Development professionals. We are reaching over 350 people with a membership of more than 90 professionals representing over 50 companies.
Since 2008, we have:
- Expanded our mentorship program
- Developed the growBOLD website
- Grown our list of resources, links, articles, etc.
- Offered 2 - 4 half-day workshops per year
- Invited external HR/OD consultants to participate in select programs/workshops
