Mentorship Program

The BOLD Mentorship Committee has developed a six month mentorship program in which all BOLD members are eligible to participate.  Depending on your skills, background and interests, the Committee will pair you with a mentor or mentee that best meets your developmental goals.  This program was successfully piloted in 2007 and launched in January 2008.

The Mentorship Committee will be accepting applications in July of 2009.  In order to participate, mentees must be BOLD members.  Click here for more information about Requirements for Membership.  Please complete the application below and email to mentorship@growBOLD.com.  More information will be announced through our newsletters.

What is mentoring?
A developmental, caring, sharing and helping relationship where one person invests time, know-how and effort in enhancing another person’s growth, knowledge and skills.

What is the growBOLD mentorship program?
A program designed for members interested in finding a mentor and growing themselves as an HR leader.  Mentees complete an application that provides the mentorship committee with information about their interests, outcomes and expectations.  Mentors complete their application with their background in HR and experience mentoring.  Completed forms are emailed to mentorship@growBOLD.com.  The mentorship committee will respond to you by email with further information.

What are the associated costs?
Access to the full benefits of a mentorship program is included in your annual growBOLD membership fee.

How long does the mentoring process last?
To receive the full benefits of a mentorship program, we recommend that the relationship last a minimum of 6 months.

How are the mentors/mentees chosen?
Both mentors and mentees will complete their respective applications and email them to mentorship@growBOLD.com.  Depending on the availability of mentors/mentees, an informal matching process will occur.  Please note that we may not be able to facilitate matching every participant, but we will keep your information on file in order to pair you up at the earliest opportunity.

How are mentors assigned?
Matching will be voluntary and self initiated.  The mentorship committee is available to help facilitate the matching process.

Testimonials:

"I found the BOLD mentor program to be very beneficial in my career growth.  My mentor provided me guidance in areas that were new to me and helped me build on my OD and Leadership skills.  The fit of the mentor/mentee and the commitment from both are what can make this very successful." Reigin Zawadzki, PHR, Human Resources Manager, Theravance

"I am finding the mentoring program to be a significant help in my role as HR Manager.  My mentor has extensive experience in all areas of Human Resources ranging from day to day operations to strategic HR.  I am continually provided insight, knowledge, greater understanding and expertise in every session.  I feel supported and encouraged and am grateful for the program." Kimberly Tyrrel, Human Resources Manager, Zosano Pharma

"Participating in the mentor program has given me new perspectives. From career advice to personal life, it's been a gentle push by someone who shares their experiences while empowering and challenging me." Carolyn Pasquarella, HR Representative II, Genomic Health

"The BOLD mentorship program is truly a rewarding and educational experience!  Over the last year, I was faced with the new responsibility of working and presenting to our compensation committee, and I knew I would need to become very comfortable with this new responsibility very quickly.  Being assigned to my mentor, John Radford, was (and still is) of tremendous value.  Not only did John seek to understand what I needed from the program, he also spent time with our CEO, to understand his expectations as well.  I enjoyed collaborating with John on many areas of compensation and it was great way to stretch and apply myself in the areas of compensation that were unfamiliar to me." Danielle Olander, Associate Director, Human Resources, Portola Pharmaceuticals
